Lettin' it all Hang Out...
Do we really ever outgrow gossip? Nah, not really. It starts in grade school, works its way up through middle and high school, and follows us to higher education, and finally, the "real world." It seems like with today's technology, it's even easier to keep up with the gossip. There's countless internets sites and blogs designed specifically to record that "he say, she say" melodrama. But my personal favorite machanisms for processing drama are these new things called Facebook & Twitter. (Sense my sarcasm?) Never have I ever seen so many friendships severed, relationships destroyed, and people beat up over a 'post' or a 'tweet'! My guess is that most folks post gossip or some ridiculous tidbit of info to get some type of reaction out of people, but we also have to be selective of what we put out there for people to see. If you know that you go through relationships like toilet paper, why post your relationship status every other week. (And sidebar, I don't need to see pictures of your firstborn child being birthed via the delivery room.) People can only feed off of what you give them, so if you know you have those few 'friends' and 'followers' who are suspect, limit your profile so they can't get in it! Just my observations and opinions. What do you think?
